  1. The Virus

Lyrics

The Virus
George Ward

It came from far away, but it’s here to stay. The world’s in disarray.
There’s no place to run. The nightmare has begun. It isn’t any fun.
How long will it last? The time for fear has passed. We need to cure it fast.
No one is immune.

It will get you while you’re sleeping.
It will get you when you’re eating.
It will have you for its dinner.
It’s the virus.

All the stores are closed. Quarantines imposed. Soon we’ll all be hosed.
The public is in fear. You can’t get a beer. No one can come near.
No where you can turn. Will we ever learn? Normal must return.
No one is immune.

It will get you while you’re sleeping.
It will get you when you’re eating.
It will have you for its dinner.
It’s the virus.

Can’t say what is worse, get told to disperse or riding in a hearse.
Need to go on home. Can’t go out and roam. Life in monochrome.
The market’s going down. Can’t go hit the town. Will things turn around?
No one is immune.

It will get you while you’re sleeping.
It will get you when you’re eating.
It will have you for its dinner.
It’s the virus.

Supplies are getting short. People start to hoard. That’s the last resort.
People losing jobs. Turning into slobs. They’ll be forming mobs.
This just can’t go on. Before all hope is gone, darkness then the dawn.
No one is immune.

It will get you while you’re sleeping.
It will get you when you’re eating.
It will have you for its dinner.
It’s the virus.
